If former league bad-boy and rugby union flop Ben Barba was hoping to return to the Sharks next year, it sounds like he’ll be disappointed.
According to AAP, Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has stated that the club has “moved on” from their former fullback, who was this week told he’s unwanted by French club Toulon next year.
“We were going to keep him here this year, but he decided to go to France, and as a club we’ve probably moved on,” said Flanagan. “I haven’t spoken to anyone about it, but we’ve probably moved on.”
“Val (Valentine Holmes) is doing an outstanding job, we think he’s going to be our fullback for the next 10 years.”
Flanagan’s view on Holmes may change in the event that the club is successful in landing Dragons fullback Josh Dugan. However, Flanagan gave a hint on what Dugan’s future may be if he goes to the Shire.
“He’s a quality player, an Australian centre… we’ve always said we’re after quality players.” Flanagan said.
