Last month, Panthers boss Phil Gould said halfback Nathan Cleary was the kind of player he’d “like to see play his whole career at the club“. Now, Cleary himself has come out and said he doesn’t hate the idea.
According to AAP, Cleary told Big Sports Breakfast that “if he does offer that, then I will definitely consider it“.
Cleary is contracted to the Panthers until the end of 2019, but has already been earmarked for another long-term extension.
Triple M’s Matthew Johns recently quoted Gould as saying that over the next two years, he’d “love to pair Cleary with an experienced half”, before handing over the reins to Cleary completely.
Now, if only there was an experienced half available for next year.
