Titans hooker Nathan Peats may be making his State of Origin debut next Wednesday night, but not everything is coming up Peatsy.
SMH is reporting that the Eels have withdrawn their offer to the Titans rake, on account of his $600,000 asking price, leaving only the Titans currently bidding for his services.
Compounding his bad luck is the fact that the Titans themselves have reportedly lowered their offer to Peats by about $50,000, right at the time that Peats has lost his negotiation leverage.
It’s conceivable that should Jarryd Hayne decide to move on from the Gold Coast that they’d then have more money available for their hooker, but at this point it appears that Hayne will remain, leaving the Titans little wiggle room under the salary cap.
It might be a good time to give Knights coach Nathan Brown a call.
Peats has played 111 first grade games for the Titans, Eels and Rabbitohs.
He’s #13 on The Obstruction Rule’s Free Agent Top 100.
