The Tigers are quietly going about building a competitive-looking side for 2018.
Having added former Warriors utility Tui Lolohea this week, the next player to sign on looks like being off-contract hooker Matt McIlwrick.
According to Fox Sports, McIlwrick has verbally agreed to a two-year extension, which would see him remain at Concord until the end of 2019.
In an otherwise forgettable season for the Tigers, McIlwrick has been a highlight, featuring in all 11 games so far. He reportedly knocked back an approach from the Eels (who it appears are still on the hunt for an upgrade over Kaysa Pritchard, after pulling out of negotiations for Nathan Peats).
McIlwrick has played 40 first grade matches for the Tigers, Sharks, Roosters and Raiders.
He’s #51 on The Obstruction Rule’s Free Agent Top 100.
