Bulldogs fullback Will Hopoate has re-signed to play with the club for another three years. On all days of the week.
The Bulldogs announced Hopoate’s new deal this morning. It will see him remain at Belmore until the end of 2020.
The press release explicitly stated that Hopoate will “make himself available on Sundays”.
It’s been speculated that the Bulldogs will be required to shed players next year in order to fit in Kieran Foran and Aaron Woods, and Hopoate was thought to be on the chopping block. However, with this signing, media attention will likely return to the futures of forwards James Graham and Greg Eastwood.
Hopoate has played 87 first grade matches for the Bulldogs, Eels and Sea Eagles, and 5 Origins for New South Wales.
He was #18 on The Obstruction Rule’s Free Agent Top 100.
