Bob Katter may get his wish.
According to an AAP report, Maroons coach Kevin Walters has hinted at a Game 2 return for Queensland legend Billy Slater, while speaking to Sky Sports Radio.
“There’s no concern with Billy Slater,” Walters said. “We’ve just seen him get better and better. That’s what we hoped would happen with Billy.”
“He’s right back in the frame now for Game 2.”
Walters is expected to make changes, given the lopsided nature of the opening game. Those changes will hopefully include the return from injury of halfback Johnathan Thurston, with Walters describing him as a “70-30” chance of playing.
“He’s hopeful of playing this weekend. If he plays this weekend and comes through, then that’s no dramas.”
