If Rabbitohs fullback Greg Inglis ultimately decides to request a release and move to Brisbane, it won’t be to play for the Broncos.
That’s the word from Courier-Mail reporter Peter Badel, who’s told Fox Sports that Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has categorically ruled such a move out.
“I’ve spoken to Wayne Bennett, and I can tell you that he has emphatically ruled out Greg Inglis ever returning to the Broncos in any way, shape, or form,” Badel said. “He will not be at Red Hill.”
“He says the Broncos simply can’t afford a man of GI’s ability.”
Which is true, salary sombrero or not. The Broncos have just added Sharks utility Jack Bird on big dollars, as well as re-signing Anthony Milford, and having Darius Boyd still to sign as well.
Which isn’t to say that Inglis won’t move to South-east Queensland. But if he does, retirement or the Titans look like being his best options.
