Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has already made it clear that five-eighth James Maloney won’t be getting an upgrade any time soon. However, if as a result, he and the club decide to part ways, they may already have a replacement in mind.
According to a News report, 7 News reporter Josh Massoud has said that Cooper Cronk could be the Sharks alternative option, if things go south with Maloney.
“He’s the Plan B,” Massoud said.
Of course, with Maloney under contract for 2018, they’re under no obligation to release him. However, if it becomes apparent that Maloney will be departing after 2018 anyway, they could do a lot worse than releasing him early and trotting out Cronk for a year or two.
