He was the best big man left on the board, and attracted interest from the Warriors; but Storm forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona won’t be going anywhere.
According to Fox Sports, the 200cm giant is “poised to extend his deal until the end of 2019″.
With Asofa-Solomona re-signing and the addition of Bulldogs prop Sam Kasiano, the Storm have ensured they’ll once again roll out a powerful forward in 2018, despite the loss of Jordan McLean to the Cowboys.
With Asofa-Solomona staying in Melbourne, as well as the Sharks’ Paul Gallen and Broncos’ Adam Blair openly keen to remain at their current clubs, the next best middle forwards still available are Sharks forward Sam Tagataese, the Sea Eagles’ Brenton Lawrence, and the Warriors’ Jacob Lillyman.
Asofa-Solomona has made 41 appearances for the Storm.
He’s #19 on The Obstruction Rule’s Free Agent Top 100.
