Despite recent chatter about the Broncos planning a raid for the Titans’ halfback, Titans boss Graham Annesley remains hopeful of making Taylor a Titan for life.
According to Fox Sports, Annesley has made his intentions for Taylor clear, saying he wants to “build a club around him“.
“He’s entitled to see what interest other clubs have in his services, but we want to build a club around him, and we’re doing everything we can,” Annesley said.
“Ash shows all the hallmarks of being around for a long time, and we’d like to see him on the Gold Coast for the rest of his career.”
Some outlets (not us) were yesterday reporting that Broncos coach Wayne Bennett was planning to poach Taylor, after Bennett said that “if he is interested in us, and he is on the open market, I am interested in talking to him”.
However, that sounded to us the same as it sounded to Broncos CEO Paul White, who commented that “to be fair, I think Wayne was asked a question, and he responded”.
Last week, 7Sport reported that Taylor is expected to stay on the Gold Coast, on a seven-figure per season deal.
Taylor has played 42 first grade games for the Titans and Broncos.
