Further to reports last month that Storm back-up hooker Slade Griffin was being considered by the Knights, comes word that he’s meeting with club officials, as they decide which hooker out of Griffin, Mitch Rein and Michael Lichaa they want to add for next year.
According to Newcastle Sunday sports editor Barry Toohey, the Knights are “meeting Griffin today“, but have so far not committed to which player they’ll bring in.
The news does, however, confirm that Griffin is being seriously considered by the club, and after being stuck behind Cameron Smith for half a decade, you couldn’t blame Griffin for looking for a better opportunity.
Adding a talented player out of the successful Storm system might be exactly what the Knights need, and would give them quality depth at an important position.
Griffin has played 19 first grade games for the Storm since his debut for the club in 2013.
