He’s been linked to a play from the Tigers, where he’d be asked to fill a utility role, but Titans utility half Tyrone Roberts is expected to stay put, and try to earn the Titans’ number 6 jersey from Kane Elgey.
According to nrl.com, the Titans and Roberts have re-opened negotiations, with a new deal now appearing to be the most likely outcome.
“I want to [stay],” Roberts said. “We’re in talks now, so hopefully we’ll get it done in a couple of weeks.”
After being asked to fill a variety of positions during 2017, Roberts was open to moving on if he could secure a starting role somewhere next year. With that not having eventuated – and Roberts with having earned the opportunity to start next to Ash Taylor in recent weeks – he now appears likely to remain on the Gold Coast.
