He might be the world’s biggest human, but Raiders forward Dave Taylor could potentially do a backflip.
A backflip on his contract, that is (I don’t know, maybe he can do an actual backflip; it would look spectacular), with Taylor reportedly getting cold feet about his anticipated move to Toronto.
According to the Canberra Times, Taylor has confided in teammates about his concerns with being so far from his family, and coach Ricky Stuart confirmed that he’s still welcome in Canberra.
“I haven’t had a formal chat with David yet, but I know he’s been talking to the players about having some hesitations now it’s getting closer for it to happen,” Stuart said.
“That’s as far as I know at the moment, given David’s talking to the other players, I’ll sit down and talk to him next week, try and get something knuckled out.”
If that “something” ends up being a new deal to keep Taylor in Canberra, that’s great news for Raiders fans, with Taylor being pivotal in the Raiders’ late-season run.
He’d be joined next year in the Raiders’ engine room by Warriors forward Charlie Gubb, whose signing was officially announced by Canberra yesterday.
