The good news for Panthers fans is that captain Matt Moylan won’t be going anywhere. The bad news is that this likely includes Allianz Stadium this weekend.
The Panthers have released a press statement today, following speculation that Moylan may have been seeking a release from the club.
The Panthers have confirmed that Moylan will remain at Penrith long-term, however he’s been granted indefinite leave to deal with “personal issues”.
“…we can confirm Matt is 100 percent committed to the Panthers, and we are 100 percent committed to Matt,” said Panthers boss Phil Gould.
“In the short term, we are giving Matt some time away from the game to deal with some personal issues and we hope that people will respect his privacy.”
“We look forward to seeing Matt re-join the group as soon as possible.”
Whether or not he’s any chance to re-join the group in time for their elimination final with the Sea Eagles Saturday remains to be seen, however we’ll find out if it’s even a remote possibility tomorrow, when Penrith announce their team list.
In the meantime, we have no idea what Moylan’s personal issues are, and have no intention of speculating on them.
