After making it completely clear that they had no interest in retaining hooker Michael Lichaa, the Bulldogs have reportedly backflipped on that decision, with 7Sport reporting that the Bulldogs have notified him that there’s a new deal in the pipeline.
The Bulldogs aren’t the only team interested, however. Lichaa attracted the interest of the Knights before they ultimately chose to move forward with Slade Griffin, and now the Dragons are reportedly making a play to bring him in to share the hooking role with Cameron McInnes.
The report doesn’t indicate which club he’d prefer, and on the surface, it’d be hard to guess. On the one hand, he’d have less competition for the job at the Bulldogs, where he’s the most experienced hooker on the roster. On the other, playing under Hasler has been career suicide for him, and should Hasler eventually be kept, you’d think he’d surely move on.
Regardless, it’s no doubt a relief to have multiple options, after Lichaa spent the majority of his contract year without getting any interest at all.
