Knights forward Jack Stockwell hasn’t been offered another contract by Newcastle for 2018, but he mightn’t be without a job for too long.
According to former sports editor of the Newcastle Herald, Barry Toohey, Stockwell has been linked to a move to the Rabbitohs.
“I’m hearing the Rabbitohs might be about to throw Stockwell an NRL lifeline,” Toohey said on twitter.
Stockwell came to the Knights in 2015, after demonstrating enormous potential at the Dragons. Injuries and indifferent form have since put a handbrake on his career, but it’d be surprising if nobody is willing to have a go at unlocking the talent he showed at St George Illawarra.
Perhaps the Rabbitohs will be that somebody.
Stockwell has played 63 first grade games for the Knights and Dragons.
