Super League club Leigh have released former Raiders hooker Kurt Baptiste to join the Roosters, effective immediately.
According to AAP, Baptiste was released due to homesickness, after having played just a single Super League match for the Centurions.
It’s interesting then, that he’s heading to Sydney rather than Canberra, which had been home to him for the past four seasons, and who will be without star hooker Josh Hodgson for the first half of the season, while he recovers from an ACL tear.
Perhaps the Raiders’ salary cap was full.
Baptiste has played 61 first grade games for the Raiders and Broncos, and 5 Tests for Papua New Guinea.
