The Knights have made no secret of the fact that they’d like to add a middle forward or two, and now we have an idea of who specifically they’ve got in mind.
According to the Newcastle Herald, the Knights have already met with Dragons forward Leeson Ah Mau, and are now trying to organise a meeting with off-contract Storm prop Tim Glasby.
The report states that Glasby has knocked back a three-year offer from the Storm, and the Knights are one of several teams interested, including the Raiders.
If Glasby is to move, it’d be fair to assume that the Knights would have the most salary cap space available with which to woo him; although it’s worth noting that the Knights have been impressively restrained in the way they’ve managed their budget so far, so we shouldn’t immediately assume that the Knights will come along and financially blow every other offer away.
That said, they do need forwards badly, with their current pack featuring two aging props on expiring deals (Jacob Lillyman and Chris Heighington), and getting dominated on a week-to-week basis.
Whether Ah Mau or Glasby end up being the solution remains to be seen, but they’d both make the Knights immediately better.
Ah Mau has played 159 first grade games for the Dragons, Cowboys and Warriors, and 15 Tests for Samoa.
Glasby has played 91 first grade games for the Storm, and 2 Origins for Queensland.
