The Rabbitohs have let their fair share of talented hookers go over the past decade (Nathan Peats, Isaac Luke and Apisai Koroisau spring immediately to mind), so you couldn’t blame them for taking no chances with their current number 9.
According to Nathan Ryan on Fox Sports, the Rabbitohs are preparing to commence negotiations with hooker Damien Cook on a long-term extension, despite the New South Wales Origin hopeful still having another year to run on his current contract.
According to the report, Cook’s manager confirmed the news, adding that Cook hopes to be a “bunny for life”.
The news will no doubt be welcomed by Rabbitohs fans who’ve been forced to watch their former rakes go on to play representative football at other clubs. In Cook, they’ve found another good one, who may turn out to be the best of the lot.
Cook has played 56 first grade games for the Rabbitohs, Bulldogs and Dragons.
