Knights get Glasby, Ah Mau tipped to Warriors

May 15, 2018, 11:03 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

If there’s a glaring weakness with the current Knights squad, it’s their feeble forward pack – they recruited as best they could for this year, but are still getting belted up the middle week-in, week-out. Next year though, that might be different.

The Knights have made bolstering their engine room their top priority for next season (with good reason), and now have their first big recruit.

According to the Newcastle Herald, Storm forward Tim Glasby has agreed to terms to join the Knights, after knocking back an offer to stay in Melbourne.

Glasby will be an immediate upgrade over any of their current middles, though they’re still going to need more help.

That help isn’t likely to be coming from another Newcastle target, Dragons prop Leeson Ah Mau, with the same report indicating that Knights officials believe Ah Mau is likely to land at the Warriors.

Regardless, the Knights already have one of the best attacking units in the NRL, and a rapidly improving defense. With the addition of Glasby, they may be just another top forward away from competing for titles again, as soon as next year.

Glasby has played 94 first grade games for the Storm, and 2 Origins for Queensland.

Ah Mau has played 164 first grade games for the Dragons, Cowboys and Warriors, and 16 Tests for Samoa.
