Manly forward Nate Myles has called on the NRL to outlaw the slap, just as they did the punch.
“I don’t think the NRL should allow (it)… whether it’s a slap or a punch” Myles said. “It’s just stupid.”
Myles was reacting to teammate Daly Cherry-Evans being on the receiving end of a slap from Bulldogs forward Michael Klemmer, but regardless, his point is valid.
The NRL outlawed the punch because of concerns that it’s not a good look for a game competing for the approval of families. By this standard, watching grown men slap each other is surely just as off-putting.
And when you’re being called ‘stupid’ by a guy who was dropped from the Queensland State of Origin team for doing a poo in a hotel corridor, it’s probably time to reassess your decision-making.
