By all accounts, Knights centre Dane Gagai loves Newcastle, but his coach Nathan Brown concedes that “any weight of money can get anyone“.
Gagai has an option in his favour for next season, which he’s yet to activate. In the meantime, he’s begun attracting the interest of rival clubs.
According to an AAP report, both the Dragons and Sharks are believed to be looking at the Knights star.
The Dragons view Gagai as a possible replacement in the event that they were to lose star fullback (or is he a centre?) Josh Dugan, while the Sharks are on the hunt to replace backline utility Jack Bird.
Gagai has long been expected to re-sign with the Knights, but the more time passes without him activating his extension, the more nervous Brown will become.
Gagai has played 120 first grade games for Newcastle and Brisbane, and 4 Origins for Queensland.
