The Tigers have a giant, James Tedesco-sized hole to fill at fullback next year, and they’re leaving no stone unturned in their quest to fill it.
Having already been linked to Bulldog Will Hopoate and Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston, Fox Sports is now reporting that the Tigers are preparing to offer a contract to out-of-favour Warriors fullback Tui Lolohea.
Lolohea is under contract for 2018, but having spent much of the last 18 months languishing in reserve grade, teams are lining up to try and pry the prodigious talent from New Zealand. And the Tigers are reportedly at the front of that line.
The report indicates that the Tigers’ offer is for two-and-a-half years, and if successful, would free up Mitch Moses to head to the Eels immediately, as Lolohea is also a handy five-eighth.
Lolohea has played 53 first grade matches for the Warriors, and 1 Test each for New Zealand and Tonga. He’s been named again for Tonga this weekend.
