Having yesterday bolstered their front row stocks with the addition of Tigers prop Ava Seumanufagai, the Sharks are now looking to stiffen up their edges.
A Fox Sports report suggests that Cronulla are making a play for young Panthers second-rower Corey Harawira-Naera.
The boom 21-year-old is a fantastic line-runner, who made his debut in Round 4.
The Panthers are keen to keep him, however their retention has stalled while they await confirmation of the 2018 salary cap, after they went full-throttle retaining their squad earlier in the season.
The Panthers are reportedly hopeful that Harawira-Naera’s living situation – he resides at Panthers House with former Panther Shane Elford and his wife – will help keep him at Penrith.
Harawira-Naera is New Zealand-born, and has played 5 first grade games for the Panthers.
