Jarryd Hayne would like to return home (to be clear, that’s to Parramatta, not Campbelltown Stadium).
According to a SMH report, the Titans fullback has made enquiries about the possibility of a return to Sydney in 2018. Hayne has a one-year option to remain at the Titans for next year, which he must choose to enact by the end of May.
The report suggests he’d be facing a roughly $400,000 pay cut if he were to make the switch, as the club won’t break the bank to accommodate him.
The next question would become where he’d play. SMH suggest that he may have to move to centre, though with Semi Radradra leaving the club next year to chase money overseas, it would make more sense to fit Hayne straight into fullback, and slide Bevan French into Radradra’s vacant wing spot.
Hayne has played 185 first grade games, including 176 for the Eels; 20 State of Origins for the Blues; 11 Tests for Australia and 4 for Fiji. Oh, and 8 games for the 49ers.
