It sounds like Des Hasler wasn’t on such thin ice after all.
The Daily Telegraph reports that the Bulldogs mentor is close to signing a two-year contract extension with the Belmore-based club.
Less than a week after a humiliating defeat to Manly led to speculation that Hasler may be on his way out, Canterbury CEO Raelene Castle put that speculation to bed, following a 3-hour board meeting at ANZ Stadium.
“There’s still some hoops to jump through to make sure everything is sorted,” Castle said. “It’s a decision for two years so it’s important we get it right and make sure both parties are happy.”
Hasler has coached the Bulldogs in 136 first grade matches, and presided over a further 206 at Manly.
