You could have been forgiven for thinking that when 33-year-old forward Frank Prichard joined the Eels this year on a 12-month deal, that he was just planning on a farewell season alongside younger brother, Kaysa. Apparently, that’s not the case.
According to Fox Sports reporter Nathan Ryan on his Market Watch segment, Pritchard hopes to play on in 2018, and the Eels will be happy to bring him back.
“(Pritchard) has indicated to me that he wants to play on next year; and the Eels, they’re happy to oblige with that request,” Ryan said. “He’s looking down the eye of a one-year extension.”
Ryan indicated that a deal isn’t likely to be finalised until after the Eels’ finals campaign concludes, but at this point, it appears likely that Pritchard will be running around in blue and gold once again next year.
Pritchard has played 256 first grade games for the Eels, Bulldogs and Panthers, 26 Tests for New Zealand, and 5 Tests for Samoa.
