Warriors re-sign Afoa, Tevaga

September 28, 2018, 10:37 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

Following a surprisingly strong year, the Warriors have quickly moved to re-sign two of their more quiet achievers for the future.

The Warriors today announced the re-signing of forward Bunty Afoa and utility Jazz Tevaga for another two and three years, respectively.

Tevaga was hardly a household name before 2018, but his strong season saw him rewarded with the Dally M Interchange Player of the Year award. His contract includes a second year option in his favour.

Afoa has played 44 first grade games for the Warriors, and 6 Tests for Samoa.

Tevaga has played 35 first grade games for the Warriors, and 4 Tests for Samoa.

The Weekend Wrap: 26/8/18

August 27, 2018, 12:02 am By Joel Leave a Comment

Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett may not even see out the season, with club owner Scott Penn reportedly looking to sack him this week.

As for the future, Barrett’s assistant John Cartwright is currently the favourite to take over as head coach.

The Panthers’ bad weekend has gotten worse, with confirmation that centre Dean Whare will miss a month of football after suffering a broken arm during his side’s embarrassing loss to the Warriors.

The Panthers also look like losing hooker Wayde Egan, who suffered a suspected MCL injury in the same game.

The Warriors reportedly have a battle on their hands to keep utility forward Jazz Tevaga, with three rival clubs chasing him for next year.

The Rabbitohs are expecting to re-sign winger Robert Jennings, with a new deal expected as early as this week.

Roosters forward Dylan Napa is facing a three-week ban for his controversial hit on Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough.

Knights five-eighth Connor Watson is done for the year, after re-tearing his groin early in his side’s loss to the Sharks.

Dragons winger Jason Nightingale fears his career may be over, after he dislocated his elbow in his side’s crushing loss to the Bulldogs.

The Dragons also lost centre Euan Aitken to a hamstring injury during the match.

The Kangaroos have given themselves a pay cut, in order to ensure that the Australia-Tonga Test goes ahead.
