It would appear that Bulldogs half Kieran Foran may be the next NRL star to retire… but don’t tell anyone.
According to WWOS reporter The Mole, the Bulldogs are “secretly attempting to retire (Foran) on medical grounds”.
It’s unclear from the story exactly how they plan on doing that (the Eels tried a similar move with Anthony Watmough, only to have it knocked back), or who exactly they’re hoping to keep it a secret from (at some point, somebody will notice he’s stopped turning up for work), but nonetheless it’s an interesting story.
The potential medical retirement of Foran would clear around $1 million per season in salary cap space, and effectively solve the club’s crisis.
Foran has played 185 first grade games for the Bulldogs, Warriors, Eels and Sea Eagles, and 21 Tests for New Zealand.
