Though the Dragons’ tardiness in re-signing coach Paul McGregor can be commended, they might not want to apply the same approach to Gareth Widdop.
According to Fox Sports, the Dragons five-eighth is on the radar of his former club, the Melbourne Storm, as a potential replacement for Sydney-bound Cooper Cronk.
The report says the Dragons have tabled a $2.2 million, 3-year offer, but the longer he goes without signing it – and the longer the Saints keep winning – his value is only going up.
The report suggests that the Storm may have gone cold on Warriors half Kieran Foran, which seemed an odd fit in the first place, given Foran’s well-publicised desire to be closer to his family in Sydney.
The Tigers and Bulldogs also have some reported interest in Widdop.
