The Dragons’ bad night got considerably worse right on the stroke of full-time, with centre Euan Aitken going down with a shoulder injury at the conclusion of their loss to the Broncos.
It was the same shoulder that saw him miss time earlier in the season, and nrl.com reporter Eden Richards tweeted after the match that Dragons coach “Paul McGregor thinks Euan Aitken’s season is over. Believes he needs surgery on his shoulder.”
This would be devastating news for both the Dragons, who’ll likely need to win both their remaining matches in order to make the finals; and for Aitken, who’d likely have been selected for Scotland in the World Cup.
The Dragons face the Panthers and Bulldogs in the final two rounds.
