It looks like it’s down to a race between two.
Following news that the Knights hosted Cronulla utility Jack Bird over the weekend, The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Parramatta have pulled out of negotiations with New South Wales Origin star.
Bird could reportedly earn close to a million dollars a season at Newcastle and it would appear that’s too rich for Parramatta’s blood.
There’s also the small matter that Bird wishes to play in the spine full-time. Bevan French is a future star at fullback, and Corey Norman is the Eels’ best player, which only leaves five-eighth as a viable spot for him at Parramatta.
And with all due respect to Jack Bird, he’s not even close to being the best half available to Sydney teams any more.
