International calendar confirmed

May 9, 2017, 8:59 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

After a 14 year hiatus, Kangaroo Tours have returned.

The RLIF today announced the international calendar for the next four years, headlined by the return of Kangaroo Tours in 2020.

2018 will see the Kiwis tour England, 2019 will see a Southern Hemisphere tour by Great Britain and Ireland, 2020 will feature the first Kangaroo Tour since 2003, before the Rugby League World Cup in 2021, hosted by the UK.

The RLIF also confirmed that qualifiers for the World Cup will be completed by 2019, and locked in an annual mid-season international weekend.

The calendar also includes an Emerging Nations championship in 2018, and a commitment to formulate a business plan for a Nines World Cup and the inclusion of Nines in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Now they just need to sort out international eligibility, and everything will be in place for international rugby league to regain the respect it deserves.
