If you’re wondering why there’s been so little talk about the future of in-form Titans utility Tyrone Roberts, you’re not alone – we, too, are of the view that a versatile talent such as him should be in hot demand. Oddly though, it sounds like he’s still waiting for his phone to ring with offers from rival clubs.
According to Fox Sports, the Titans have already tabled an offer to Roberts to remain at the Gold Coast for the next two years – an offer he’s yet to accept, in the hope of being offered a starting spot somewhere else.
It’s hard to believe that he hasn’t been offered that opportunity already, given all the player movement that’s occurred so far in 2017. Roberts would provide a capable starter, either in the halves (where the Warriors, Knights, Storm and Cowboys all have either current or impending vacancies) or at fullback (where the Dragons are yet to replace Josh Dugan).
Far be it for us to push a player’s barrow on his behalf, but a few clubs could do a lot worse than offering a starting opportunity to the enigmatic Titan.
Roberts has played 130 first grade matches for the Titans and Knights.
He’s #24 on The Obstruction Rule’s Free Agent Top 100.
