Hot on the heels of the Roosters announcing that they’ll be without fullback Michael Gordon for up to 8 weeks with a pectoral injury, comes word that they may also be without hooker Jake Friend for an extended period.
According to WWOS reporter The Mole, Friend has suffered a broken hand at training, and is likely to be out for up to 4 weeks.
In Friend’s Round 4 absence, the club used Paul Carter at dummy-half, but he’s no longer with the club after having his contract terminated last month.
Grant Garvey made his first grade debut last year and would be a suitable replacement, while Mitchell Aubusson and Connor Watson could do the job in the short-term if required.
Whatever way they go, they’re going to have their depth tested over the next month, as they push towards a Top 4 finish.
