The Weekend Wrap: 6/8/17

August 6, 2017, 9:59 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

Scans have confirmed that Knights winger White Lightning suffered a back fracture during his side’s upset win over the Warriors.

The Titans are expected to be without halfback Ash Taylor next week, after he suffered a suspected medial ligament injury during their flogging at the hands of Brisbane.

From the same game, Broncos forward Joe Ofahengaue is facing a three-week stint on the sidelines after being charged with a dagerous throw on Titans forward Max King.

In better news for the Broncos, they finally confirmed the re-signing of winger Jordan Kahu to a new, three-year deal.

Sharks utility Jack Bird may be in some doubt for next week, after he failed to finish their loss to the Raiders due to a shoulder injury.

The Roosters suffered multiple injuries during their collapse to the Sea Eagles, losing winger Daniel Tupou to a groin injury, and forward Siosiua Taukeiaho to a dislocated finger.

Tigers coach Ivan Cleary has urged his son – Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary – not to rush into signing a long-term deal with Penrith.

Reports are gathering steam that a cap on football club spending will be introduced in the immediate future.

Melbourne and Brisbane are being rumoured as potential hosts for next year’s World Club Series, as momentum gathers for the matches to be played in Australia.

It’s being reported that former Kiwi Test back-rower Sonny-Bill Williams will return to the Roosters, as either a player or coach, when his rugby union contract expires at the end of 2019.
