If the Bulldogs miss out on Dean Pay for their head coaching job, there’s at least one highly accomplished first grade coach ready to step up.
According to 7Sport, former Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire is keen for a shot at the Bulldogs gig, in order to keep his family in Sydney.
Nonetheless, Maguire has also interviewed with Super League club Warrington – the same club linked to fellow Bulldogs coaching candidate, Pay.
Should Pay ultimately get the Warrington job, Maguire would firm as a potential option at Canterbury; while if Pay were to get the Bulldogs job, Maguire would still have the Warrington gig as a fallback option.
A decision on Pay’s future is expected within the next week, and from there, the dominoes should begin to fall.
One way or another, it’s looking like Pay’s about to get a crack as a head coach; we just don’t know where yet.
