After the embarrassment of missing the semi finals at last year’s Rugby League World Cup, it was inevitable that heads were going to roll. As it turns out, that debacle has now led to two high-profile casualties, and they haven’t even announced the findings of their independent review yet.
NZRL Chairman Reon Edwards today announced the resignation of CEO Alex Hayton from the role.
Hayton joins Kiwis coach David Kidwell on the outer, after the NZRL announced in February that the head coach position was once again open. Yesterday, former Blues coach Laurie Daley was linked to that role.
NZRL Deputy Chairperson Hugh Martyn will take on the role of Acting CEO in the interim.
