A week ago, news that the Raiders had locked down reserve winger Michael Oldfield likely would have been greeted with a resounding “who?!”; but after the speedster turned in the game of his life on the weekend, it’ll hopefully be greeted with smiles from Raiders fans.
To that end, the Raiders have indeed re-signed Oldfield, locking him down for a further two years, until the end of 2020.
The journeyman winger is 27 years old, and not likely to crack the Raiders’ top side at full strength; but he proved on the weekend the value of having high quality depth.
Oldfield has played 36 first grade games for the Raiders, Panthers, Rabbitohs and Sea Eagles, and 2 Tests for Tonga.
