The Weekend Wrap: 9/9/18

September 9, 2018, 11:14 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds will require scans on his shoulder, and captain Greg Inglis took a blow to the ribs, but both players are expected to be back next week for their semi final against the Dragons.

Rabbitohs assistant coach David Furner will leave the club at the end of the season, after landing the head coaching job at Leeds.

Warriors fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will be in a race against time to be ready for the Kiwi’s end-of-year Test, after suffering a strained MCL.

The news was worse for Sharks star Wade Graham, who’ll miss the rest of the finals and the start of next season, after tearing his ACL in the loss to the Roosters.

Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell is in danger of missing his side’s preliminary final, after being charged with a crusher tackle on Josh Dugan.

Roosters prop Siosiua Taukeiaho is also in some doubt, after injuring his ankle during the win.

Dragons forward Jack de Belin failed to finish his side’s win due to an ankle problem, but still expects to be back for next week’s semi final.

The same can’t be said for Gareth Widdop, who dislocated his shoulder again, and is considered “no chance” for next weekend.

The Eels are rumoured to be shopping Mitch Moses around to other NRL clubs, after reluctantly accepting that nobody wants Corey Norman.

NRL fans had best make sure their TV’s mute button is functioning, following reports that Ray Hadley will be calling more games for Channel 9 in 2019.

Sharks Bird out with sternum injury

July 21, 2017, 3:50 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

For the second week running, Friday night football has lost a major star at the last minute, with Fox Sports reporter James Hooper reporting that Sharks utility Jack Bird is a late scratching from tonight’s clash with the Rabbitohs.

He’s understood to be rested as a result of a sternum injury, and Hooper expects his place in the centres to be taken by utility Kurt Capewell.

Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds, who’s been dealing with a sprained thumb, is expected to play.

Update your fantasy teams accordingly.

Rabbitohs’ Reynolds’ thumb sprained, not broken

July 18, 2017, 5:51 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

Honestly, right after we give a bloke a wrap…

Contrary to last night’s report from WWOS’ Mole, the thumb of Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds is in fact sprained, rather than broken.

According to The Daily Telegraph reporter Christian Nicolussi, the thumb is not broken, and as a result, Nicolussi says that Reynolds “will definitely play on Friday”.

In publishing the original story, we noted that The Mole was right on the money with his report of Roosters hooker Jake Friend breaking his hand, and as such, there was a good chance he was likely to be right about this.

As it turns out, it would appear that both he, and in turn we, were wrong.

Apologies.

Rabbitohs’ Reynolds breaks thumb: report

July 17, 2017, 10:00 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

UPDATE 18/7 @ 5:52pm: A new report from The Daily Telegraph reporter Christian Nicolussi has discredited this story, claiming that Reynolds in fact has a sprained thumb, and isn’t expected to miss any time.

As if the Rabbitohs’ clumsy effort against the Cowboys wasn’t enough disappointment for their fans, it now appears they’ll be without their halfback for much of the run home.

According to WWOS reporter The Mole, Rabbitohs half Adam Reynolds suffered a broken thumb, and will “miss at least a month”.

The injury is yet to be officially confirmed by the Rabbitohs, but The Mole was on point with breaking the news of Roosters hooker Jake Friend‘s broken hand last week, so we’re pretty confident in the report.

The Rabbitohs would likely need to win all their remaining matches to make the finals, and without Reynolds, they can probably start making plans for 2018.

Tries from kicks: Where is Luke Walsh now, anyway?

June 10, 2016, 11:05 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

While browsing the paper a couple of weeks ago, I came across this interesting little article in the Sydney Morning Herald about the impending selection of Adam Reynolds, and why specifically he should be selected.

In it, the author argues that Reynolds’ league-leading try assists per match, and more particularly his league leading total tries from kicks, “are the statistics which show why” Adam Reynolds was to be selected by New South Wales. The argument sounds very convincing. Unfortunately, it’s also baloney.
