The Weekend Wrap: 9/9/18

September 9, 2018, 11:14 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds will require scans on his shoulder, and captain Greg Inglis took a blow to the ribs, but both players are expected to be back next week for their semi final against the Dragons.

Rabbitohs assistant coach David Furner will leave the club at the end of the season, after landing the head coaching job at Leeds.

Warriors fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will be in a race against time to be ready for the Kiwi’s end-of-year Test, after suffering a strained MCL.

The news was worse for Sharks star Wade Graham, who’ll miss the rest of the finals and the start of next season, after tearing his ACL in the loss to the Roosters.

Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell is in danger of missing his side’s preliminary final, after being charged with a crusher tackle on Josh Dugan.

Roosters prop Siosiua Taukeiaho is also in some doubt, after injuring his ankle during the win.

Dragons forward Jack de Belin failed to finish his side’s win due to an ankle problem, but still expects to be back for next week’s semi final.

The same can’t be said for Gareth Widdop, who dislocated his shoulder again, and is considered “no chance” for next weekend.

The Eels are rumoured to be shopping Mitch Moses around to other NRL clubs, after reluctantly accepting that nobody wants Corey Norman.

NRL fans had best make sure their TV’s mute button is functioning, following reports that Ray Hadley will be calling more games for Channel 9 in 2019.

Roosters retain Mitchell

March 12, 2018, 12:55 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

Their opening match mightn’t have gone to plan, but the Roosters have moved quickly to give their fans something to cheer about; re-signing a trio of youngsters, highlighted by future star Latrell Mitchell.

Mitchell, centre Joseph Manu and lock forward Nat Butcher have all signed extensions that will keep them in the Eastern Suburbs until the end of 2020.

Mitchell has played 48 first grade games for the Roosters, while Manu has played 20.

The Weekend Wrap: 21/5/17

May 21, 2017, 11:12 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

The Cowboys re-signed star halfback Johnathan Thurston for a farewell season in 2018.

The Sharks have poached Josh Dugan from local rivals, the Dragons.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has indicated that he won’t release five-eighth Anthony Milford to Queensland Origin camp, if he’s not selected in the top 17.

NRL clubs’ chairs have called an emergency meeting for Tuesday, with an eye to potentially trying to remove ARLC chairperson, John Grant.

Tigers forward Suaso Sue faces just a two-match ban (or one with an early guilty plea) for a pretty cheap high shot on Anthony Milford.

Sea Eagles forward Nate Myles will require scans on his knee, but is expected to be fit for Origin if required.

Former Shark Ben Barba is expected to make a switch from French rugby to the Super League.

Eels centre Michael Jennings left his team’s loss to the Raiders early with a quad complaint, but isn’t expected to miss any time.

Panthers hooker Peter Wallace will require scans on his groin after picking up an injury in his side’s comeback victory, and could be ruled out of Origin.

Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell finished his match on the sidelines, after picking up a sternum injury in their win over the Bulldogs.
