Titans confirm Boyle extension

August 7, 2017, 1:37 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

As expected, the Titans have today confirmed the re-signing of young forward Morgan Boyle for a further three years.

The extension will keep Boyle on the Gold Coast until the end of 2020.

The Titans’ retention of Boyle was first reported over a week ago, and comes after Boyle was the target of a big-money offer from the Tigers.

Boyle has made 12 appearances for the Titans since his debut in Round 6.

Boyle agrees to terms on Titans extension

July 28, 2017, 12:52 am By Joel Leave a Comment

If people think they can just roll on in and pinch the Titans’ best young talent, they’ve got another thing coming.

On the same day 7Sport reported that halfback Ash Taylor is expected to shun the Broncos advances in order to sign a 7-figure extension with the Titans, comes news that the Titans have agreed to terms with in-demand forward Morgan Boyle.

According to the Courier-Mail, Boyle’s deal is expected to be announced in the coming days, after the Raiders junior agreed to terms on a three-year extension.

Boyle had been the target of a big money offer from the Tigers, but it appears that – as they were with Connor Watson – the Tigers will once again be left empty-handed.

The Titans are building a decent forward pack for next year, with Sea Eagles forward Brenton Lawrence already signed on, and Broncos forward Jai Arrow expected to join the club as well.

In more good Boyle-related news, he’s been once again named on the bench for this weekend’s clash with the Titans, after having been blocked from first grade in Round 19 due to second-tier salary cap issues.

It seems everything’s coming up Boyle.

He’s played 10 first grade games since his debut in Round 6.

Titans make offer to keep Boyle after Tigers interest

July 19, 2017, 9:04 am By Joel Leave a Comment

If the Titans ultimately lose young back-rower Morgan Boyle, it won’t be because they didn’t want to keep him.

According to Fox Sports, the Titans have tabled a new three-year extension to Boyle, in the hopes of staving off interest from rival clubs.

The offer comes after the Tigers were last month reported to have offered Boyle a lucrative $500,000 per year deal to lure the Raiders junior down to Concord.

In related news, nrl.com yesterday reported that the Titans will struggle to field Boyle in first grade for the remainder of the season due to second tier salary cap restrictions.

Boyle has featured 9 times in first grade for the Titans this year, however as long as there are members of the top 25 available for the Gold Coast, they’re no longer able to get a salary cap exemption for Boyle.

We suspect that won’t be an issue on his next deal, wherever that ends up.

Boyle attracting interest from Tigers

June 29, 2017, 11:49 pm By Joel Leave a Comment

He was largely unknown prior to this season, but since making his NRL debut in Round 6, plenty of people have taken notice of giant Titans back-rower Morgan Boyle.

Perhaps none moreso than the Tigers, who’ve reportedly weighed in with a $500,000 per year offer for the powerful edge runner, according to WWOS.

There are “up to six clubs” vying for the signature of the Raiders junior, and it’s suggested that the Titans are unlikely to be able to compete with the money on offer elsewhere.

Boyle has played 8 first grade games for the Titans since making his debut this year.
